‘Outlander’: Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin & More Tease Season 6 Twists And Turns VIDEO

It’s no secret that the driving force behind both the first novels and seasons of the time-traveling romance Outlander is the will they/won’t they/dear god how ever will they love story of Claire and Jamie Fraser. But there are only so many times writer Diana Gabaldon and the Starz series based on her books can pull the the Frasers apart (though, don’t fret, she still has a trick or two up her sleeve in that regard). That’s why fleshing out the side characters of the story are so important.

Variety spoke with Skelton and Rankin to talk about Brianna and Roger’s goals now that they’ve settled to live in the past, how the two are processing past trauma, and what fans can expect for the short-but-sure to be lively sixth season. In previewing what’s to come this season, Skelton and Rankin both agree that Bree and Roger’s story may have found some calm — but that’s within the eye of a troubling storm. Speaking to The Inquirer, he revealed that he’s keen to one day settle down. “I would like to emulate some of Jamie’s qualities. He’s very loyal and quite stubborn,” he said.

Just as Jamie and Claire’s romance has fueled speculation that Heughan and Balfe are dating (they’re not), it’s been thought that Rankin and Skelton could be together in real life, despite the fact that they don’t open up much to the public. With so much action taking place in Wilmington, Outlander arranged a behind-the-scenes tour of the sets that comprise the town, demonstrating that Scotland, where the STARZ series films, hosts a little slice of America. Talking about Richard Rankin’s romantic encounters, he has dated a few women in his life, however, none of the relationships lasted more than a year. His first known relationship was with actress Cara Theobold. They acted together in the TV series called The Syndicate and they had a short-lived relationship in 2016.

He’s a fan of the Outlander books.

She says both she and Balfe are committed to showing the lasting effects of how sexual assault changes their characters, and that Season 6 will no doubt deal with the aftermath of Claire’s attack. After watching the devastating finale the night before, Skelton jumped back on a Zoom chat with us and helped us break down the episode (aka consoled us). This episode saw her character’s mother, Balfe’s Claire Fraser, being brutally assaulted.

While Jamie and Claire’s sexual tension builds, and builds, and builds throughout all of Season 1, nothing sexual happens until they have to consummate the marriage in this episode. Frank Randall, an English historian played by Tobias Menzies, wanders around an old castle with wife Claire Beauchamp, played by Caitriona Balfe. During the scene, Claire sits on a wooden table and Frank shines a flashlight on her as she spreads her legs. “Why, Mrs. Randall, I believe you left your undergarments at home,” he says, and homeboy proceeds to go down on her. And yet, it took me literally only 15 days to parse through 55 episodes of the show.

Breaking down the ‘Outlander’ Season 5 finale

Berry’s most notable role is in the television drama series A Place To Call Home, based in 1950’s Australia. But at the onset of Outlander season six, we meet a more “settled version” of Bree, Skelton says. Her character has grown up considerably on the series—she is now a wife and a mother herself—and she is searching for her place on Fraser’s Ridge, the impressive https://loveexamined.net/phrendly-review/ tract of land and community helmed by her father Jamie. In one memorable scene early in the season, Bree “invents” matches, an innovation yet to have been developed in 1770s America. When she decides to share the good news at the Fraser family dinner table, her father assumes that she’s announcing that she’s pregnant (she isn’t—not yet, at least).

Lord John Grey star David Berry has been married to Kristina Tesic since 2012 and they have one child together. Many fans have hoped Heughan and Balfe’s onscreen romance will become a case of life imitating art but the two are just good friends. Another Outlander star who keeps things private is Lotte Verbeek, who portrayed Geillis Duncan. She did recently post pics on Valentine’s Day, but she didn’t give fans any hint about who she was dating. Here’s a look at the real-life partners of the Outlander cast. “I just think sometimes showing real stuff on TV in a delicate but truthful way is just really, really important for young people now.”

‘Outlander’: How Well Do Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin Know Each Other?

There is in fact an entire episode about how Claire and Bree are fans of this beloved snack even though Jamie doesn’t seem very impressed. Skelton feels a huge responsibility to rape survivors to get her performance right, and she continues to research both the stories of women who have gone through what her character has, and the biological impact of PTSD. She also recognizes that Outlander’s violent storylines can be hard for some people to watch. I don’t think there was ever a show where I was that sort of fanatic about it.” Some women in the community even feel protective of the character of Brianna, and at times, of Skelton herself. Skelton was up for the role of her daughter Brianna, and the audition felt natural, “which is funny because in audition rooms, things never feel natural,” she says.

He plays Claire’s husband Frank, a retired MI6 agent, and his ancestor Jonathan “Black Jack” Randall. Menzies has made a name for himself playing the roles Brutus in HBO’s Rome and Edmure Tully in Game of Thrones. Known for her recurring role as Marsali MacKimmie Fraser, Lauren Lyle is 26-years-old born in 1993.

She was in The River and then reprised her role in the Broadway production alongside Hugh Jackman. She has made appearances in the shows Merlin, The Fall and will be part of the main cast for the show The Nevers (2021). When she arrives at StyleCaster’s offices in New York City, Skelton stands shorter than most members of the makeup and photo crew—and that’s with Louboutin heels on, their signature red soles peeking out with her every step. Her eyes, a deep honey brown, gaze around the small library where we’ve set up for the day.
